About Bulleen – Suburb Profile

Until the post war era, Bulleen was predominantly a rural real estate district. Isolation from public transport and difficult river crossings hindered real estate development so that the Bulleen area remained dominated by dairy farms until the 1930's.

Residential real estate subdivision and development gained momentum by the 1950's and continued into the late twentieth century. The former Glen Iris Brickworks on Templestowe Road was redeveloped for housing in the 1990's.

Bulleen today is a well-established residential real estate area, with an increasing population. The redevelopment of the former Glen Iris Brickworks and the addition of new housing in existing areas have resulted in population growth between the 1996 and 2001 Census.
