Travel time to the city is approximately 22 minutes (less by train). Nearly 20,000 people were living in Camberwell during the 2006 Census in an area of 5.8km2 broadly bounded by Burke, Toorak, Warrigal and Canterbury Roads. Adjoining suburbs are Hawthorn East, Canterbury, Glen Iris, Surrey Hills and Burwood.
