Mont Albert is just 13 km from the city and is bounded by Whitehorse Road in the north, Canterbury Road in the south, and by Union and Elgar Roads in the west and east, respectively. City travel is via train from Box Hill or Mont Albert stations, car or tram along Whitehorse Road, or Canterbury Road and the Eastern Freeway by car. Travel time to the city is approximately 30 minutes.
The suburb is predominantly private dwellings although units are becoming more visible. Mont Albert features a wide range in home styles and sizes with some properties fetching well in excess of $1 million.
Camberwell Girls Grammar Junior School and Surrey Hills Primary School are located within the suburbs boundaries. A number of other educational facilities are within two kilometers including a catholic primary school, Mont Albert Primary, Box Hill Senior Secondary College, Box Hill TAFE and Kingswood College.
Box Hill Central and Westfield Doncaster Shoppingtown are the closest regional shopping centres although Balwyn's Whitehorse Road shops do meet most needs.
The recreational needs of residents in Mont Albert are well served. There are a number of reserves and open areas nearby like Surrey Park with its wonderful Whitehorse Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
Hospital and medical facilities and private consulting rooms are concentrated in Nelson Road in Box Hill, and are just a few minutes away.
