Point Lonsdale Suburb and Real Estate Information
The seaside resort and residential town of Point Lonsdale nestles around a rocky outcrop on the south-east (ocean) side of the Bellarine Peninsula overlooking The Rip and Bass Strait. Point Lonsdale is 103 km from Melbourne, 28 km from Geelong and 4 km from its sister town, Queenscliff.
The partially-protected Lonsdale Bay side of town is popular with campers. The lighthouse and views at The Point and elsewhere attract many day trippers. The foreshore reserves surrounding much of Point Lonsdale's coastline have walking and bike tracks that extend round to Queenscliff. The Back Beach draws active sport and sun-lovers.
Point Lonsdale's retail centre caters for most everyday needs. For more serious shopping, residents travel to Geelong via Bellarine Highway, the most direct route to the regional city.
Point Lonsdale has a primary school but students must travel to the Ocean Grove or Drysdale Campuses of Bellarine College or Geelong for secondary and tertiary education. Picnic and skate park facilities cater for Point Lonsdale's youth and visitors, alike.
