Templestowe Suburb Profile Information

Located 20km and 33 minutes north-east from the City, the residential suburb of Templestowe shows little evidence today of the extensive orchards that used to cover its rolling hills. Most residential construction commenced as recent as the 1970's and is now largely complete. Homes range from modest to substantial particularly around and north of Serpells Road. Home and unit prices are both recovering from their recent slump.

The suburbs which surround Templestowe are Lower Templestowe, Doncaster, Doncaster East and Eltham. Its boundaries are the Yarra River to the north, Victoria Street and Ruffey Creek to the west and Blackburn Road in the east.

Residents use the bus network for city and cross-town movement or private cars. 25% more residents than is the norm drive their cars to work.

Templestowe has a very high proportion of homes predominantly occupied by families with teenage children. Professional and managerial roles are common and a slightly above average representation of residents born in Italy and Hong Kong.

Three primary schools are located within the suburb boundaries (Templestowe Park, Serpell and St.Charles Borromeo Primary School). Another three primary schools are nearby in Lower Templestowe as is the area secondary school Templestowe College.
