Warrandyte is your home in the country yet is only 32 km or 45 minutes from Melbourne's CBD via the Eastern Freeway. Warrandyte offers a wonderful lifestyle in a residential and rural setting for its 8,000 residents living within a 12 km² area. Part of the City of Manningham, the suburbs abutting Warrandyte are Eltham, Templestowe, Wonga Park, Warrandyte South, Warrandyte North, Doncaster East, Donvale and Park Orchards. Its boundaries are Reynolds Road, the Yarra River and Jumping Creek.

The suburb has two local primary schools - Warrandyte Primary school in Beveridge Street and Andersons Creek Primary in Fossickers Road and Warrandyte High School in Warrandyte Road. Some public bus routes are available in the area but residents mainly rely on private cars to drive to work, children to school, for shopping and, indeed, for all their travel requirements. There are few shops in Warrandyte. The Gold fields Plaza on the Heidelberg to Warrandyte Road, covers the basic necessities.

One of the popular attractions of Warrandyte is the Pound Tunnel which was blasted by gold miners to divert the Yarra River while they sluiced the alluvial sands and gravel for gold nuggets.
