Wonga Park Suburb and Real Estate Information

29 km east-north-east of Melbourne, wedged between the Yarra River and Croydon North lies the rural town of Wonga Park. Jumping Creek in Warrandyte and Brushy Creek provide the west and eastern boundaries of the suburb.

Originally known as Warrandyte East, the local topography ranges from undulating to hilly interspersed by creek valleys. Much or the native bushland has been cleared. Real estate ranges from suburban-sized blocks to 6 ha (15 acres). Home styles and their sizes vary greatly, too, with prices of houses for sale varying from $500,000 to multi-million mansions.

Wonga Park has a small retail centre but most non-essential shopping would be done closer to the city. It is a suburb where a car is essential yet a bus route between Croydon and Chirnside Park also services Wonga Park. The suburb also has a bus link to Tullamarine airport via Ringwood.

Besides its town centre, Wonga Park has a primary school, a sports ground and a CFA station. A true "community" - indeed, with almost all the hallmarks of a small country town. The profile of its population shows its residents to be largely younger, Australian-born families who drive to work.

The Warrandyte State Park follows the Yarra River along the suburb's northern boundary offering many walking and bike trails with extensive views including a lookout over the protected Bend of Islands.
