Clifton Springs is a residential area on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria.
Clifton Springs is bounded by Port Phillip Bay in the north, the waterway and
Geelong-Portarlington Road in the east, Oakden Road, Clifton Springs Road,
Bayview Parade, Bayvista Parade, Ernstine Way, Barrands Lane and Wyndham
Street in the south and Jetty Road and the waterway in the west.
Development of the area dates from the late 1830s. Growth was minimal
until the 1870s when a resort was constructed. Significant development of
the area and Clifton Springs Real Estate occurred from the 1960s, with the
population growing more than five-fold between 1976 and 1991. Clifton Springs
has experienced an increase in population between 1996 and 2001, a result of
new houses being added to the area.
